I will be intalling an Offy intake on my van soon, and came across an interesting product by Offy:

This is supposed to be a bolt-on cross-ram simulator. I want to try this on my van since I can't run a hyper-pak. Do you think it will actually help create a ram effect if I mount it so that the carb sits over towards the passenger side of the van?

No idea, but I would run it just because!

Is it expensive?

It costs about $140 as pictured.

Wow, what a bizarre product! Is it new, or another old treasure that Offy's had catalogued forever? What's the Offy P/N?

(If I had one of these, I'd probably be completely perverse and use it with a 2bbl adaptor plate! )

Actually, that is exactly what I am going to do! I will be running a BBD first, but eventually I am going to run a staged Holley 2305.

These are being sold new through a website:

http://www.offyparts.com/product_info.p ... f1a3eae86d

It is four inches tall and 13 inches long, which would rule it out for a normal car application (unless you didn't have a hood), but it will fit fine under the doghouse in a van!

It wouldn't fit in the van, so he sold it to me a while back...it currently is at CPM being machined for an EFI setup...

I can't see how it would work extending the runners into a ram effect........

It's a big open volume (offset to look cool), so all it would do is increase plenum volume.................

Plus you're doing 2 more 90 degree turns of the air flow, that can't be good............

Post subject:

So the 90 degree bends will hurt airflow and the ram effect won't happen due to the open area?

I thought that the ram effect simply had to do with the volume of air moving into the cylinder due to inertia. I don't know much about intake manifold design, so any comments would be appreciated.
