I just had my new exhaust installed and I love it! I had a 2 1/4 inch pipe all the way out the back with a Flowmaster 40 series muffler (no delta flow). At idle it sounds great, just like a small V-8 and upon acceleration and has a real deep rumble with that signature Flowmaster sound. Running about 60 I can here it slightly with the windows down and with the windows up it is almost completely silent. It sounds great around town. The only gripe I have is at high rpms (passing gear) it moans really loud. But I can live with that. Mid range has improved noticeably but torque has remained about the same. |

I want to do the same thing, so I have just a few questions... Did you go to a chain or an independent mechanic? How did it affect your fuel mileage? How much did you spend? Particularly on the muffler... Thanks |

I spent $150 on the whole setup. Muffler was abut $50 (used), IIRC. Gas mileage increase hasn't been enough to notice. I went to a local, independent shop. He did a great job too. I will take some pictures of the setup later on. It basically follows the same route as the stock exhaust but with a bigger pipe. |

Hey Jeb your gas mileage didnt go up? I put a front secetion of 2 1/4 about to the end of the trnay pan and 2 1/2 all the way back with a magnaflow on it and my milage went way up. I was getting 14 to 16 mpg and after the exhuast was installed 15.5 to 20.5 mpg. No lie |

Jeb, I am very happy to hear you're not dying from the droning. question: how did you point your exit pipe? I'm wondering if my trouble is coming from the fact that I have a downturn on my exit pipe. and Jeb, them there tires squeeling yet? =) ![]() MJ |

My tailpipe exits in the stock location. This thing has 2.76 gears out back so a burnout is out of the question. |

Mine does too, it just has a down turn instead of straight out. My thought was maybe that was reverberating off the pavement, making the noise worseThis thing has 2.76 gears out back so a burnout is out of the question. MJ |

Mine has an awful droning sound too, and it is basically like stock, just 2.5" No turndown. |

Mine has a turndown also. The drone doesn't come in until about 75-80. I think the gears have a lot to do with that. |

duh didn't think of that--we're talking about an rpm range, not a speed. You have the same problem, just the gears make sure it happens later ok..well new muffler sometime! MJ |
