i think i might be close to getting stock 318 performance out of my slant i have taken 0.060 off my head and added a mopar purple cam P4120243 along with a carter bbd this will all bolt to a 904 automatic transmission and 323 rear gears now for the question part am i thinking correctly on this or do i need to do more to this slant to match a stock 85 318 in performance |

So far it sounds like you're on the right track. Careful attention to the ignition advance curves (distributor), and a set of Dutra Duals, will put you further along the track. It's not too tough to beat an '85 318; they weren't too strong that year. |

so what would a set of dutra duals set me back? i'd also have to get them into canada so shipping could be a little steep |

did a search and found a page on them and they would only set me back a manifold if i were to do this myself but what other options are avaiable for the slants i really don't want to cut up a good exaust manifold |

If it is a street car you doint need tube headers trust me on this . Durta duals is where you want to go . Been there done that . Dan is right let the Slant Six Force Be with You. Hell Hath No Wrath Than A Possum Scorned |

the only thing is i'm thinking of rebuilding my two other slants i got for parts and i only got this one that have the bolts all broken off in it an one that is still bolted to the one engine but it's a one barrel set up een if i decide to sell the truck at some point i'm keeping this slant |

I'd go with the headers. I have run cliffords on the street for 20 years now. what kind of intake and carb do you have? -dave |

would i gain as much going with a high flow cat and muffler as i would with some dutra duals or headers i'm thinking i would like to keep it as stock looking as possible |
