Today I was looking at a '77 D100 that must have just come into a local junkyard. I noticed that it had two oil dipsticks,whats the deal with that? Also I was pretty disappointed,the emissions label said 225 2bbl but there was a 1bbl setup on the motor.

Sounds like the engine may have been changed at some point in it's life. The engine in my race car is a car engine, but I had to run a pickup/van oil pan. On the pickup & van pan, there is a dipstick tube rivetted into the driver's side, just below the pan rail. On the car engine, it's in the block, just above the pan rail and slightly aft of the engine mount.

Ah,that makes sense. It's a shame they used the 1BBL manifold though... Who knows what happened to the 2BBL one.

ah thats why i have that hole in my block i thought that could be the reason behind it i was thinking of plugging it probably still will just not sure with what yet
