| Post subject: | Unusual Loss Of Idle |
I have a 63 Dart with a stock slant six. It has been running great. But the last few times I drove it, when it is cold, it runs great. When it warms up, it runs great. But sometime after it warms up, and it could be 10 more miles, or 2, I pull up to a red light, and have no idle. It's like it is gasping for fuel. I have to put it in neutral, and kick up the rpms. When the green light hits, I put it in drive. And as I give it gas, it is like there is no problem. Once I let off the pedal when I get to speed, there is a miss. Now, here is the kicker. This happens for two stop lights. But the next 5, there is no problem at all. And then out of the blue, it hits again. At least I know if I want to make a quick trip to the local market, I can. If I want to shoot across town, it gets embarrassing. I'm no mechanic. Could it be my fuel pump going out? Should I check the fuel filter? Thanks for any help I can get. |

Try adjusting the valve lash. Tight valves can cause this problem. Lou |
