I did a search but it must not have been phrased correctly. What smog stuff can be stripped off and what must stay for this application (not regulatoriey sp)? Obviously I want it to run as well as possible but also be a simplified as possible.

Secondly, I want maximized power along with decent MPG. Suggested mods?

It has the super six and I will add Dutra duals. What else would fit my plans?

Well, going into a 64 ou could stip off all the smog stuff. Just make sure you cap the fittings on the carb.

I for maximum economy and performance I would say go with the Carter BBD or a staged two barrel if you can find one. Are you running n automatic or a manual transmission? If an automatic beware of the trque converter hub size change in 68.

Was to get better MPG?

(1) run the thinnst oil possible
(2) run a clean air filter
(3) run skinny tall tire
(4) run aluminium rims
(5) run electronic ignition with the p;ugs gapped at .045
(6) strip out the entire interior except for the driver's seat
(7) make sure you have no vacuum leaks in either the choke pulloff diaphragm or the vacuum advance pod on the distributor
(8) custom curve the advance curve on your distributor
(9) run a clutch fan or an electric fan
(10) make sure your choke is adjusted and working properly
(11) run ten inch drum brake on all four corners, not discs (drums are lighter)
(12) use as many aluminium parts as you can (intake)
(13) run a mini-starter
(14) go with a single 2 1/4 inch exhaust (less weight)
(15) free flowing muffler
(16) strip all the extra metal parts off your car- no bumpers, no spare tire, no tools or jack in the trunk
(17) manual steering
(18) cold air intake
(19) run a 7 1/4 rear axle with four leaf springs (again, less weight)

Okay, some of those suggestions like stripping thinterior and bumpers are a bit extreme, but on the whole those are the easy ways to get better MPG and performance out of your car.

I forgot to add make sure your tires are properly inflated.
