Post subject:  List of lists?
As my first question, may I ask if there is a list of where to find, for example, compilations of the different heads in various slant six cars over the years or the different carbouretors in various slant six cars over the years or transmissions or rear ends or wheel covers or whatever? Either Google doesn't help much or I don't know how to search for them. Kinda history in a way, but more of a look-up?

There's not much specific yet. I'm figuring out my priority list on the car and knowing how to find things enters in to that. I've just seen on the internet that there are a lot of things compatible between years and a lot of things that are incompatible between years. So I guess the word is compatibility cross reference, and I didn't know how much had already been compiled.

Yes, I've read some interesting things here and I've seen some of the names in different places on the internet.

Come to think of it I do have a transmission question regarding compatibility. There seem to be at least two different kinds of attachment where the speedometer cable connects to the transmission. One has a bolted hold down and one has threads. I assume this is related to what year model the transmission is? Where they sell such things they give you the year but rarely anything about details. Is there any kind of comparison chart in the archives that would give you a clue of the year? I haven't found one. Thanks

The threaded speedometer cable was used on cars manufactured starting in 1966. The push in style was used through 1965.

I'll post anything I find, but don't hold your breath. The way things are nowadays, Googling for auto parts can get you anything from mashed potatoes to zebra farms. :-)
