Hi Guys, I am new here, and this is my first post. I am 18 now, and I do not have a car with a slant 6, but when I was really little my family had a base model sky blue 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger with a 3 on the tree. I always loved that car, and I plan to get one of my own some day. Anyway, I have always wondered, what is the RPM redline on the 198 ci engine in that car? Thanks for the help, and have a great day. -Ted |

Probably about 5000-5500. The stock cam falls flat on its face at about 4500 and quits making power. If you want a screamer get a 170. The 198 and 225 were geared mainly towards torque production. |

Can you put a 170 cam into a 225 and get more out of it?

Ross, It is really not worth your effort, power-wise, to go with a 170. A 225 can be made to rev to 5500-6000rpm with some work, and will make a lot more HP due to its displacement. The cam swap will do nothing for performance since they used the same cam! Good luck with your search, Lou |
