Post subject:  a couple questions on clutch assembly?

hi all- doing a clutch replacement in my 85 truck..and the years have faded my memory. a)what do I torque the flywheel bolts too? (85- 225 mtr w/4spd.) b)what do I torque the pressure plate bolts too? c)bearing grease ok for pilot bearing? I have regular and blue type- marine d) lastly..should I use 'lock tight' on any of the bolts? thanks so much for any help here.

Fallow the stock bolt size torque setting but use grade 8 bolts if you can. only put a light coat of oil on the inside of the bearing but you shouldnt need any. The clutch directions should tell what the torque is for the pressure plate bolts but like I said earlier torque it to the bolt spec's.

if it is a pilot "bushing" then don't put anything on it. they contain 18% oil by weight. if it is a bearing then wheel bearing grease should be fine. blue locktite on the pressure plate bolts is fine and so you can get it off later. make sure to put a thin film of grease on the bearing retainer for the throwout bearing to ride on. and plenty of grease on the pivot ball.
