Post subject:  Engine has begun to stumble.

On my Duster with a stock 225 I had a bog/hesitation/stumble. So I tried to tune the carb and I got better, then I also widened the gap at the breaker points and it got a lot better. But the other day I took it for a really long trip and halfway through that trip it started to stumble. Not all the time, but when driving around 100 kilometres on plane ground it will stumble sometimes and also there will sometimes come a little bang from the carb. It does not do this as often when I drive slower in city traffic. Mostly on the open plane road and when driving at the same speed for a longer time.

The weird thing is that it started on that long trip, It did not do this before that, and now It has remained. It's almost as if the gap between the breaker points which I widened had retured to it's small gap.

Could it be that I replaced the air filter and gas filter with cheap "works on all cars". (I have ordered the right parts now)

Another question, my instrument panel light was really weak, and now it's totally gone. I replaced the fuse and it's still gone. Any suggestions, I know very little about the electrical system. Another thing, there are four orange lights on the side of the fenders of the duster. One of them will light when I turn the light on. Now this might sound stupid, but are thoose lights supposed to blink when I turn the turn flash, or are they supposed to light all the time when my lights are on?

Lots of questions as usuall

I that same thing on a Plymouth Fury with a 318 once. It turned out to be a bad condenser in the distributor. A complete tune up just might fix your problem; better yet upgrade to electronic ignition.

I had this problem on my '65 Valiant. Turned out to be bad grounding. If you can figure out which part of the panel is the ground side, you can run a wire from it to a chassis ground point.
