This engine is not the engine I am going to use but I couldn't resist bolting my turbo and manifold to see what it will look like. I will probabily use an air to water intercooler. I havent had it made so there's still a chanse I'll use an air to air. There juse isnt much room in front of the radiator for an air to air on a 66 Valiant. ![]() not much room for a dipstick. you can barely see the hole for it. ![]() ![]() The Clifford manifold was water heated but as you can see I cut that off the manifold... no need with fuel injection |

Do you have any side shots showing the flange on the manifold? Any other pics? This is what I need to see to keep me going!! Cool stuff! |

I got the bulk fuel rail off Ebay, a local machine shop made the brackets and made the holes for the injectors...I brought them a drawing for the adapter for the throttle body and they made that too. Here is a picture of the flange it is both bolted and welded ![]() |

curious, looks like you have a T3 compressor...also are you not going to have a clearance problem with the mount bracket and the steering gear box????...course if it is a T3 turbo its smaller than the T4 i am using..thanks GRT |

The engine mount bracket will have to be trimmed down, to be honest I am not sure if I will have a problem with the steering box. I have seen another setup setup like mine and it fit but, it was a turbo from a 2.2 Dodge engine. Next week some time give it a trial fit in the engine compartment. |

another quick question...it looks like your T3 turbine is equipped to run an internal wastegate....is that your planned for this? let me know if it clears the starter? and you have room for your pipe. Reason i am asking, it wouldnt allow enough room on my T4 so my ex manifold is going to look like yours but i am making an extension to move it out beyond the ovehang of the intake. this allow for me to put an external gate in the extension. also allow for the exaust pipe to just do a 45 degree downturn and go out of the engine compartment like the factory did. My setup is like the one you describe - turbo off a 2.5 liter Lancer - and it has no trouble clearing the power steering setup or the motor mounts. Can't wait to hear when you get it running! |

Matt, I saw on your blog that you are using a Megasquirt, I have one also. What distributor are you using? |

If your not sure what kind of cac you are going to use keep this in mind, go to the nearest Isuzu truck dealer and ask them if they have a intercooler(cac) for a 00 to 03 W4 truck. I've worked on them and they are very good sized but not to big. |

No more pics? ![]() grthigpen, so you had problems with a T4 turbine? To big to allow the swing valve to fit? Am I understanding correctly? Sounds like a T3 turbine might be the way to go. Rob64GT, if I remember correctly, you have a T4 compressor, right? Likes like a .60 A/R, close? Reason I ask is I am going to use a .70 A/R on mine and it looks like it should fit. The .70 A/R cover comes out farther over the backplate bolts, but doesn't totally remove the nubs for bolt holes. Looks like mine should fit! I was getting nervous as all I measured was clearance between the cover and exhaust manifold, but didn't think of clearance at the intake. Please, any more pics??? ![]() |

I am working on installing the setup in my car, I needed to swap the head. previous owner reversed the 2 round washers on the exhaust manifold. one of the studs was already broken and when I tried to remove the other nut to fix it, that stud broke too. I should have that fixed and some more pictures soon. |

Dion R actually i did the numbers on the desired turbo i wanted...T3 spooled quckly and could possibly be prone to choking down at high rpms especially above about 5200...went with the T4 it will start spooling up at around 2100 rpms and will give me about 8 pounds at 5000 rpms and i wont have a worry about choking out. Dont desire anything above that...will put me at about 300 plus hp with my engine setup and carburation at redline...didnt want it spooled up cruising down the highway GRT ps oh yea. i'm going with the external wastegate...want better turbo performance... no problems with the T4 just its bigger and so it wont tuck under the intake...will look nice the way i am mounting though |
