| Post subject: | VROOM VROOM Exaust question |
Hi, I was wondering what would be the best sounding, performing exaust for a 225 slant six. First it will probably be installed on a stock slant six. But eventually i plan on adding a new 4 barrel manifold and headers and a 4 barrel carb. Im not really sure what im going to be adding or if i will ever get around to adding performence upgrade(as i am going to be restoring another car after my dart) but i need an exaust and i want something that will sound good and also be better then stock. Thanks, Mike |

i have a flowmaster on my dart with clifford shorty headers and 2.5" pipe and a lot of people think i have a V8:). i think the flowmaster i have is a 40-series, but i'm not sure. make sure you get a muffler with offset inlet and outlet. inlet and outlet on opposite corners, that is. have the shop that puts the system on puts a flange at about the tranny crossmember to make it easy to pull componets or change the system later. zedpapa |

Or simply get a Ichibahn´s muffler and get the feeling of a V8 with headers. |

I also have the Clifford shorty headers into 2.5". I ended up using a "Stock" muffller but tried out 14" and 24" Cherry Bomb muffler from a recommendation. I would not recommend these. My Dart sounded like a giant POed bumble bee. I drove it around the block at the shop that installed it and everyone was looking. Actually worse with the 24" than the 14"??. My car didn't have interior in it at the time and that made it worse. I will put on a Flowmaster or equivilent at some point. |

Zedpapa- How is the interior sound from your set up. Is it super loud. Becuase this car is going to be my everyday driver and i dont want it amazingly loud where im going to get tired of hearing it. |

I put 2 1/4 from the exhaust manifold to the crossmember where your torsion bars mount and 2 1/2 all the way back using an off set magnaflow full flow and the only thing I would change is using the chrome stock style turn down. I get a drone with the windows all the way up on the highway going 75 mph. This system is quite at idle but still rubbles like a v-8 on a stock six and sound good with your foot in it. |

the interior sound is not that bad. you can still carry on a converstion and there is no resonation in the cabin. it does make some noise and sounds great when i get on it. my car is my daily driver and it doesn't bother m that much. the exhaust leak bothers me more. but i'll be fixing that soon. zedpapa |

Well, inside my car everything is already, no exausht noise can be heard, only when you step on the gas, but the noise is pretty aceptable, you can still talk without problems. |
