Post subject:  Alternator wiring??

Ok here is the thing. I detached my alternator and all the wires and now putting the new alternator in. I realized I just confused myself on what wire goes where. Also the wires I am confused on are Purple green and blue.

If any of you have a diagram I can see I would be greatly appriciative. If not please try to describe it. Thanks

Chucky

You don't mention the year and model of your car (always mention that when asking tech questions, please).

The relatively thick wire with the ring terminal at the end goes on the "BAT" or "B+" threaded-stud terminal of the alternator. The one and only thin wire, usually blue but sometimes green or another colour, with a plastic-insulated ¼" spade disconnect gets pushed onto the ¼" blade terminal. (1970-up cars have two of these wires and two of these terminals; it does not matter which blade terminal gets which spade-disconnect wire). And if you've got a wire left over, it's a ground, connect to the "GRD" or "GND" hole on the rear half of the alternator housing.
