My 74 Dart Sport came with a 5 pin electronic ignition. I bought a new one from Year One however it is orange in color and only has 4 pins. I'm getting ready to crank this car after sitting for 16 years. Will I have any trouble with 4 pins vs 5 pins? I still have the old 5 pin, yet it looks 32 years old. Can you still buy 5 pin electronic ignitions? If so, where?

You can still buy 5-pin modules; NAPA will sell you an Echlin TP-50, or Standard LX100.

A few notes:

1) You can get better ignition performance and eliminate the ballast resistor with the HEI swap

2) The Mopar boxes (orange, chrome or any other color) currently coming through tend to be of poor quality. I believe they are Taiwanese junk.

3) You will usually overpay when you buy common replacement parts like this from a source like Year One.

Another thing on the MOPAR boxes:

The rated rpm is for a 8 cylinder, so you can multiply the rating by 1.33 for an equivalent 6 cylinder rating. i.e. the basic module is all you need
