Found a plug on passenger side towards rear of engine between oil filter and oil pressure switch. Is this a coolant drain plug or oil passage way plug? Don't see any plugs on drivers side (other than freeze plugs) |

Yep, it's the block coolant plug.......... Finally picked the correct terms to search on and found it in the archives..................... BTW, the search terms were 'block drain' didn't find anything if coolant or plug was in the search......... |

I had a dickens of a time getting mine off and had to put a flame to it. put some anti seize on the threads to make removal easy next time |

if you're feeling frisky, you can buy an aftermarket temp gauge and put the sender into that drain plug. i trust the temp in the car, but the aftermarket ones give a little bit more detailed status of the water temp. |

i trust the temp in the car, but the aftermarket ones give a little bit more detailed status of the water temp. The water is cooler at that drain plug than the normal temp sensor location, so it's not apples to apples...... |

best to put a radiator petcock valve in that hole. a nicer way to drain the block. -james |
