ok some one on the board is asking a similar question but...
I have a 74 duster engine and the temp gauge just dosen't work..so I opted to get a temporary temp gauge at walmart. just till I get time to crack open the dash and fix it for real.
question.. where dose the "temperture sensor" go?

Ideally, in the head as close to the thermostat as possible.

Later heads (like mine) have several places already tapped for various emissions/vacuum devices.

I have two senders installed on my head, the smaller one is for my temperature gauge, the larger one is the temp sender for my electric fans. I have a third available hole should I ever need it. Currently it is plugged.

In the metal housing that your upper radiator hose attaches to.

Where the upper radiator hose attaches to the head in the above picture....that is the thermostat housing. The thermostat is held between the head and the thermostat housing by two bolts. ;)

That picture if of the front of the cylinder head, taken from the passenger side of the vehicle.

heh wow...wish I would have seen that pic before I replied..heh...

I see where it should go...problem is the hole looks way to small to fit the bolts that came with it...
