What kind of brakes should one expect to find on an original '72 Challenger? |

If you are asking disc or drum fronts, my 72 has drums all around. But there were options for disc fronts. |

So this is the treasured E-body brakes A-body Slanters used to dream about . . . Thanks |

Actually, since there were far more a-bodies and the 73 up disc brake spindles work on either an a- or e-body most e-body guys grab the later a-body disc parts for up front. |

Perhaps I misunderstood some things I've read. As I said, I was referring to Slanters - but I meant A-body Slanters. V_8 owners, especially with larger bodies, obviously want discs.

I seem to have left out a detail. What prompted this thread/question was finding 10" front drums on a '72 Challenger. As of now I can't even find anyone who sells replacement 10" front drums.I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the Challenger actually delivered with a 225 in it. Thanks |

Go here: http://www.federalmogul.com/aftermarket ... ountry=USA Then under Catalogs, Make Model lookup.... Get a part number(s) then enter that part number at rock auto under part(s) number lookup. Sometimes you can find stuff at rockauto that way........... (they don't always have everything crossreferenced....) |

Well, horse feathers - and a side dish of chicken hair. Nice place and lots of fun, but they didn't have any drums listed, only studs, nuts and shoes - and info about when t o throw the drums away away, etc. (And I tried on each side of 1972.)Thanks |

in this book http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h56/t ... C00002.jpg it says 10 x 2 1/2 front brakes were avaible the part # BD60264 is listed for front drums. though they dont list diffrent #s for each side the same # is listed for a base 72 charger with 10 x 1/2 REMEMBER this is a 1989 parts book. but that # might help you in your search. the parts did exist at one time. someone may be able to convert that # for you to something. good luck |
