The FSMs that I ordered, and which might or might not include the
info. that I need, won't be here for several days. In the meantime,
I'm ISO what other BBD /6rs use to 'lightly lubricate the cup' that will not react with fuel or the cup composition. If anything.

Oil of most any type you've got (engine oil, trans fluid, P/S fluid, 3-in-One) will do fine to soften up the leather so you can flare-out the cup prior to its installation. Gasoline, carburetor cleaner, brake cleaner, penetrating oil, WD40, etc. isn't what is wanted.
