I've decided to run hydraulic lifters/cam in my 225 slant/6. I picked up a set of Mopar performance lifters over the weekend. I need advice on what would be a good cam, rockers, and pushrods. Would stock Mopar work ok for a mild daily driver? Does anyone make a better cam, rockers, pushrods?

I have nos rockers, lifters, and cam that will be up for sale at some point, or trade. The cam is an unknown item at the moment. The shortblock was built when I bought it so have to pull the cam to see what I've got.

I guess I'm getting old and lazy. I just don't want to adjust valves or listen to them happily ticking away under the hood.

You do realise that in addition to the hydraulic valvetrain parts (pushrods, rockers, rocker shaft, rocker shaft bolts, lifters, camshaft) you're also going to need to modify the rearmost cam bearing or the rearmost cam journal...right?

Hey Dan,
I've been thinking of doing the swap to hydraulics as well, could you elaborate a bit more on the modification to which you're alluding ? I am also considering using an aluminum block for this project; would the procedure be different? Thanks - M

Well, I've heard both ways on changing the bearings etc. I was under the impression the hydraulic cam was modified with an oil groove to allow it to install in the solid cam blocks. Whatever is needed I guess I can do, and I appreciate the info.

I tried to get the grooved rear cam bearing when I built my motor. I was told at that time that it was no longer available. The shop used the number for a hydraulic motor and it did not have a groove.

I have a hydraulic cam from Ultradyne that has a full groove in the rear journal.
