The second pair of digits left to right behind the water pump housing is the year of casting?

I should be able to use this engine in my car with only a flex plate change?

If you were to use a 1968-up engine in front of a 1967-down automatic trans, you don't change the flex plate, you install a 1/8" annular adaptor ring in the later crank's counterbore.

Found my date on my car (c 225 12 28). Is this all the numbers?

no one mentioned this too me when i swapped a 74 engine into my 67 auto, should we have put that in? or am i reading this wrong? thanks

Can anyone tell what year this Slant is? I can see some of the date code but don't have the software to enhance it. I don't have the engine to just read the code. Your help is needed. Looks like a '67 engine and installation to me, all details considered. Someone has crudely removed the PCV valve.

The second pair of digits left to right behind the water pump housing is the year of casting? If it is a 1968 its crank should be a large flange as compared to my 1967s small flange crank. Correct? I should be able to use this engine in my car with only a flex plate change? My torque converter can still be used? When ordering a converter do you have to specify large or small crank flange? I'd like to build this '68 engine and still drive my engine until the build is complete.

Not sure why I had 68 in mind. You even said 67. So in your mind this engine pictured should bolt right in with no changes needed.

What year car is the motor in? The paint on the block and head doesn't match the intake and valve cover, as if they had been replaced.

Just looked at the car. Its a 68 Dart The engine has been changed. Numbers on the block behind water pump housing are as follows 06194 24633430-1 Can the exact year be determined from these numbers? I bought the 904 trans too. Not sure of trans year but I like it to be the 68 orignal.

Nope, the casting number won't give us the exact date. For that, we need the numbers/letters stamped into the top surface of the block, just below the frontmost spark plug.

Found my date on my car (c 225 12 28). Is this all the numbers? Please tell me that mine is indeed the correct year for my car. On the drivers side there is a 12166 24633430-19 I thought that the 121(66) was the cast year, but I guess not. Maybe (C) stands for 66 or 67

Without it, you're looking at shortened trans front bushing and seal life and potential for weird vibration problems that are tough to track down.
