Post subject:  A-904 Clutch Packs

In my new A-904 clutch pack there are waffle disks and straight cut disks. Which ones go in the front drum and which ones go in the rear drum? BTW, I noticed that the waffle disks are 0.086 thick and the straight cut disks are 0.062 thick.

I looked up the Raybestos part number that Mopar Performance sent me in the A-904 Performance Rebuild Kit and it was for a 72 and Up tranny. Mine is a 69. I don't know that it matters, although Raybestos has a clutch pack for 60-87.

I even see where you can put thinner disks in a stock drum, so you can get a total of 5 in there.

Help! I am over my head.

The clutchs that have the groves/slots are the front drum. I believe they are the think ones. There is alot of info about adding clutches to the 904. It gets tricky but all the anwsers are out there. Just do a seach on google and you will find them.

The waffles are for fluid escape when the front clutch pack engages on the 2-3 shift. Since the rear pack is always engaged in all 3 forward gears, no fluid movement grooves are needed.
