From power to manual I ve been told is easier. I d like to go from manual to power steering. (got a shoulder that is hurting all the time now) Does the steering colum really need to be changed? Can it reasonable be cut down? (I'd really like not to cut this one) My interior is black, other one could be painted easily. Is there a problem mounting my steering wheel on the new colum? Mine is a colum shift too. :(

Do not attempt to cut the steering shaft. You can swap a steering shaft out of a power-steering '67-'69 (possibly -'72) column (with any trans, with any shifter location). It's not that hard to tear down and build up the columns. If you want to find a complete column to swap in, use www.car-part.com .
