Getting the right stuff at any price is the trick. The GM lockstrip is commonly used but it isn't exactly right and might not seal properly in an old gasket. Andy Bernbaum has the gasket with lockstrip but it's more than double your budget. I understand that it's available from down-under but don't know about pricing. I will have to cross that bridge myself but I'm not there yet.

The lockstrip shows up on ebay a lot, around $30. I don't know about the gasket.

I have been told that the lockstrip on Ebay is the narrower strip made for Chevy and GMC trucks. It will work with a new gasket but may be loose in an old gasket that has hardened over time. FWIW, new universal gaskets are available for use either with the lock strip or in a self-locking type. The downside to them is that they are not continous; they will have a seam that must be joined with adhesive.

I have to purchase one sometime in the next few weeks along with some new glass and a new glass seal as australia largest supplier of glass for all australian cars (obrien glass) have just moved there operation to china which is happening more and more.
back to the lockstrip its sold in three sizes which you will need the middlesize one? which is about 1/2 inch or just under, it is usually found at quality parts supplies like rare spares, it is usually sold by the meter and i think a front screen lockstrip will cost us around 40-45AU depending where you buy, it is not exactly the same as the original but the size is correct and the chrome strip last a lot longer due to being in the middle of the clear plastic as oppossed to on top where over time it get scratched and chips off so it is a superior quality to that of the original.
I have a 66 valiant wagon which is exactly the same as your dart wagon but there are ofcourse front and rear cosmetic differences, well the chrome lockstrip for the rear left and right window which is curved at the back is available in the same style as the windscreen lockstrip but its narrower, it looks fantastic and wont come out and is the best 20 bucks total (both sides) i have spent on ANY car due to the difference it made.
If anybody needs some of this stuff i guess i could arrange it, i usually buy a fair bit of nos off US ebay every week which tends to end up like twice what you guys pay when you factor in the crapp aussie peso and postage but it beats buying it of some middleman who will slug me double that if i bought it locally.
I sold about 20 nos electronic distributors in the past year because we never got them as our mighty slant production ceased in 69.
