| Post subject: | Carb Help Needed |
Out at Pittsburgh my car was not running as it should have been. My brother in law and I asked a couple of people there if they knew anything about carbs. This engine builder came over and checked everything out and listened to all of the symptoms (sluggish off the line, didn't pull as hard as it used to, plugs covered with black soot) and concluded the power valve is blown. Now I need to know which power valve to order from summit. The car pulls 19 pounds of vacuum at idle in neutral and 16 at idle in drive. do I need to check any other parameters before ordering? Thanks, Phil |

What was the previous PV...if it worked fine I wouldn't change it...if it had a "leanout" window then you want something just above your cruise window (aka 65 mph, on the highway...i.e. if 12"...then 10 or 9 might be ok...check your "tip in" when you hit the gas to see how fast the vacc. reading declines when passing). (If you needed a 6.5...I got lots of those, I send you 2 for postage). While ordering get the Spectre PV blowout protector, all post 1992 Holleys have these OEM...a few seconds with a drill and a soft mallet will keep it from happening again... -D.Idiot |
