Slantsixdan suggested I post a description of my repair to this switch. It's a round, disc shaped switch attached to the bottom of the push button assembly behind the dashboard. I've got a '64 Valiant, but it's probably similar on others. I had no success locating a new or used one, so in desperation I drilled out the axis pin holding the switch together. The pin is a hollow shaft and I just drilled off the crimped end of it. That released all the moving parts. With the contacts revealed, I could see how filthy they were. I cleaned and polished them, and then reassembled the switch, using a tiny nail to secure the end of the pin. I slid the nail into the shaft up to the head of the nail, then clipped the pointy end leaving about 1/4" sticking out which I then crimped over where the shaft had been crimped before. Voila! The switch worked perfectly. I didn't take pictures of the whole repair, but I did take pics before I put it back in the car. Don't know how to post them here. It's my first time.
