8¼" has a 10-bolt, horizontal-oval rear cover plate. 7¼" has a 9-bolt, generally-round-with-some-flats rear cover plate. There are isolated reports of 10-bolt covers on 7¼" rear axles; I've never seen one in the metal or in the parts books. |
