I stopped at my normal gas station on the way to see my parents the other day and picked up a copy of Mopar Collector's Guide. Low and behold, there's a story about the Valdosta race and gives the run down on racing action, as well as a paragraph or two about Rob. Even talks about how most of the guys in the series frequent this board and includes of a pic of Norms car (I think). Sadly, I left the magazine sitting by my bed at my parent's house.

Mopar Collectors Guide supports Slant Six racing. They do a writeup in every issue, during the racing season. Show your apreciation, with a subscription and an e-mail.

Hey Charlie, it mentions you, but iirc refers to you as a "newcomer" to racing. Have I been smoking something (aside from my tires) this whole time when I thought you were a regular?

Charlie is a racing veteran. Me, Cecil, Eric, Jerry and Clint were the newcomers at the Valdosta race. You can look at my reaction times and tell I am a rookie  .
Charlie is the man we have to thank for having the Valdosta race.

Does it mention any of the rest of us, how bout me :D ? I have never been in a magazine before.

Er.. uh... yeah, Cecil being the newcomer, not Charlie. I tend to type faster than I think at times, sorry 'bout that. Anyway, no Jeb, I recall it mentioning you, but I've already proven how well my memory is working tonight. Overall all, I enjoy the magazine and pick it up whenever I get a chance (that one gas station is the only place I've ever seen it, and that's about an hour from where I live). They do have a couple references to yanking the six being the cool thing to do, and I'm not a big fan of Govier, but for the most part it's worth that admittance price. And the classified sections are priceless.

I reread the article, and didn't see where it said I was a rookie. I have been doing as many slant races, as my budget will allow, since 2001. Befor that I ran stock elimininator and bracket races with a slant six, between 1974 and 1985. Did not do any drag racing between '85 and '01. Started drag racing in 1958.

Please accept my sincere apology for doubting you; I'm a moron. (see post above)

I picked up an issue of MCG today and there it was on page 28. A great picture of Norms car flying down the track and a nice writeup. I am glad that they support Slantsix racing. But one question, Whre did they get that Cecil was the only "true rookie" there. Eric Levins and me were not mentioned at all, and we are both rookies.

I'll be back next year. Hopefully then I will make the magazine.

I have no idea, what happened, there. Actually, Cecil is only a rookie to the slant six racing. He actually has been doing more local track racing then I have.

I just got mine in the mail the same day as my SSRN! What a great mail day! :D

And golly jee, I feel like a real celebrity 'er sumthin' I was mentioned in both of 'em.

MCG has been a great supporter of Slant Six racing by covering the series for a couple years now.

Who is it that gives them the information on the races? Seymour, Tom Drake, Doug Dutra... Did you give them the info on the Valdosta race Charrlie?

There are always going to be some mis quotes, ommissions and stuff just inaccurate, even when the person publishing the story was right there. I just really appreciate the coverage for our cause! That goes a long way.

Yeah I thought Cecil was a veteran also because he was deep staging and cutting some pretty good reaction times.

The race in Valdosta was the first time I had ever been to a drag strip. Pretty noisy but I got used to it.

Was there somebody from the magazine walking around that night? I don't remember seeing anybody.

So Rob how is the celebrity life?

I think Cecil has been a V8 kinda racer for many years. I remember him mentioning his big block race car(s) awhile back.

Yeah, once you go once and feel that adrenaline rush, it's easy to get hooked.

I think maybe Charrlie or someone gave the MCG guys a write up. I don't think they were actually at the track. I could be wrong. I wasn't exactly on top of my game that weekend. Does anyone know who it is that usually gives MCG the race write ups? Different people attend different races, so I'm curious.

Celebrity life is good  It really was touching to be mentioned though, I have to admit. It just made me miss things "back home" all that much more.

I've attended a couple monthly races here in Germany, but it isn't anything like the Slanted Family! I tried to hook up with the local "Mopar Club", but they weren't very welcoming. It's a small group of guys that run a Mopar shop and I guess they didn't smell "customer potential" or something.

My signature block says it all...
