Post subject:  carburetor replacement problems

I just bought a remanufactured cater 1bbl and it has a hose tube on the left side right near the fuel inlet. My old one does not have that. What is that inlet tube for and do I need to return it to get another one? I know it is not for the breather hose since that is near the back of the carb. I gave them my truck specs- 1970 Dodge truck D-100, 225 /6 3.7L. Thank you

Maybe the vent for the fuel bowl?

Before you spend too much time in the direction you're headed, note that remanufactured carburetors very seldom work well. They really are mostly all garbage, see this thread. Do you still have the truck's original carburetor?

To answer your question, if the tube you're looking at is above the fuel inlet, and facing the passenger side of the vehicle when the carburetor installed, then it's the fuel bowl vent pipe, used on all California carburetors starting in '70 and nationwide + Canada in '71. If your vehicle wasn't originally equipped with the closed fuel venting system, you can just leave this pipe open to the air.

yes I still have my origional carb. It currently has vaccum leaks, the adjustment screws just turn and does not adjust the idle, and one of the screws that holds down the top part to the base is stripped (well not the screw, but the hole; I swapped the passenger side screw with the drivers side and it is not the screw). I purchased my rebuilt online from partsamerica.com. I planned on keeping my origional.
