I have seen this carb at a local pick-a-part and on eBay. It looks similar to a Holley 1945, but there is a cover on the top corner. Can anyone ID it? My 1945 is dieseling and running rough, and I want to replace it with something else. Any thoughts? Thanks Bill

My thoughts? Forget the 1945 and grab a Holley 1920.

That's a Holley 1945, circa 1977-1978-ish I think. If it's OEM and new, then it should be OK for a while... The Holley 1920 is a better design and simpler to work with, but if they've sat in a junkyard or on a shelf for a while they have a tendency to give up the ship also. -D.Idiot |

Would I have any trouble swapping out my original 1945 carb with this newer one? |

Should be pretty easy, all your 'stock' connections (assuming that you still have your emissions equipment in place like charcoal cannister, etc...)... It should all swap tit-for-tat (and you can leave the idle enrichment circuit plugged like you picture if you van's carb was not equipped for it). -D.Idiot |
