I need to replace the turn signal switch on my '69 Dart. I see the $70.00 one on Ebay. Is there a better(cheaper) resource? Thanks!

Shee-Mar SM-106 may cost you less than that. www.shee-mar.com , their website is cruddy but you can use it to contact them by phone and find out where to buy locally. Keep in mind, turn signal switches are complicated, which is why they are expensive.

Dan, Thanks for the info. I will check it out. I hear what you are saying about the switches. I guess I just need to belly up and pay the money.
I've already wasted about 20 bucks trying to fix the switch with those replacement cams. That did not work. Thanks for your help.

I agree that the replacement cams are a waste of time. I looked all over for the correct one; everyone has the common (later) ones hanging on the shelf. I finally found a Motormite number which was supposedly the right one, but after ordering and finally receiving it, I compared it to my old one and it was slightly different. Tried to make it work anyway. No dice.

I've seen a few unbroken ones at the junkyard, but after years of abuse I don't think they would hold up for that long, anyway...

Horsepuckey! They are not a waste of time at all. If your switch is worn out, then a cam won't help, obviously, but if the cam is all that's broken—as is frequently the case—then the cam is all you need.

You didn't look "all over" at all, as it seems. There are several sources for the correct early-style ones, and they have been mentioned on here numerous times. I would've happily directed you to them, but, umm, you didn't ask. So, yeah, trying to install the wrong part is definitely a waste of time.

I just got off the phone with Shee-Mar. I ordered the SM-106. It was
$56.03 plus $7.50 S&H. Still about 6 bucks cheaper than Ebay. The lady on the phone was real helpful and they also replied to my email. I should have the switch by Friday.

Dan, I realize that you can't fix an inoperative switch by replacing the cam; I was just stating my personal experience with replacing the cam itself.

As far as my difficulty in finding the right one, I was informed on several boards that the Dorman/Motormite pn#49305 was the correct one according to the catalogs (it didn't work because the ridges and grooves were slightly different, which did not allow it to snap into place like the original), and I was even told that pn#49301 should work (no way it could, it's only for the later models). That being said, I installed the "right part", it was just from the "wrong manufacturer" I guess...

Bet you weren't told that on this board, though! ;-)
