I need to rebuild the engine in a 65 signet convertible I just snagged. First off I need to know for sure that the V8 is in fact a 273. Can someone here tell me where the number is on the engine block? Also, any help and links to parts information would be helpful. Where is a good source for an engine complete rebuild kit? I also need a drivers side front fender. I'm also interested in finding metal to replace the rust holes around both rear quarters. All information would be greatly appreciated. Steve |

Look at the rocker arms, if they have adjusting nuts on them, 99.9% of the time it is a 273. |

The engine ID is stamped on the front of the block right under the driver's side head. Take a scraper and a wire brush. Also, 273s have a concave area on the driver's side of the block to clear a power steering gearbox. Northern Auto sells a lot of engine kits.
