A stock 225 was 145HP. Does anyone know what the stock Torque was? |

If you're using the 145hp figure, the torque would be 215..... (that's before the went to the NET hp) |

I think it was 215ft-lbs. Gross rating, not really real world. |

Net HP? The rating system changed? What would be the true factory HP and Torque on a 1967 225 with 1 barrel if I were put on a dyno today (no upgrades)? |

In 1967 it was rated at 145 bhp at the crank. In the early 70s all the carmakers changed the way they measure hp to yield what is known as "net" hp. Prior to that engines were run bare with only what was required to make them run. After the changed they were tested with all the accessories hooked up an functioning. The same slant six measured somewhere around 100 hp after the change. The power the engine produces did not change, only the way it was measured. If you put the engine on a dyno today it would measure pretty much the same. If you are running the waterpump and alternator and have the exhaust and intake installed as they would be in the car you'll get around 100 hp; take them off and it will be around 145. |

Actual dyno numbers and "factory ratings" were never the same. Just for example: My 65 170 engine was factory rated 101 hp. My engine was a "legal stocker" fully blue printed, headers, and a "legal" Lunati "stocker" cam. It made an actual 102 hp. PS: this car would run way under the national record at the time. |
