Can anyone give me some amplifying info on this cam such as streetability, speccial machining requirements. Would it be a good street bracket setup. I'm slowly gathering pcs for my first slant build (first big engine build actually). Iused to build some real good kart racing engines about 15 years ago and I'm trying to remember how to understand cams but it's coming back slow |

in a recent post compiling cams for the /6 someone posted a really amazing piece of info, not only the actual cam makers, denomination, advertised duration seat to seat and @ 050 and valve timing event but on the botom there's the finest piece of info I've ever seen and help me to understand some things that I was having hard time to figure, that's tight vs. broad LSA, and overlap hope it's helpful |

There's one of those on ebay NIB... The cam has something like a 284/284/76 duration/overlap and was the biggest cam mopar perf offered for the slant, I'd say it'd make an OK drag cam, but not the best street cam (isn't the LSA like 104? with a .528 lift) -D.Idiot |

DI, I think your right about the LSA being 104. The chart has it at 108. The SB and BB cams using this same lobe have a 108 LSA which explains why the S6 .528 has more overlap than the V8 .528. Also incorrect is the dur@.050, listed at 221*, it's more like 241*. |

This cam is a radical cam intended for strip use only Specs are part number 4529343 advert duration 284/284 overlap 76 lift 528 cam c line 104 This cam will only work good on a built engine ie higher compression, four barrel intake ,headers high stall converter at least 3500 , and a lot of rear gear say 4.10 or better. Thanks Ron Parker It Aint Over Until I Win |

I Use this cam In My car. you can use this cam with up to .100" off Head and .100" off Block and still probably get away with no special machining. (ALWAYS CHECK FOR .090" PISTON TO VALVE CLEARANCE ANYWAY) I currently run this cam with 1.6 Rockers which put it at about .562 Lift And I did have to cut pockets into the valves. run this on the street and strip with a 4 speed and currently 4.10 gears. Check out more Info Here: http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13007 I run those times posted in the above link with an all steel street car, full interior etc. Lou Madsen username dart270 and Brian Droschack user name Brian Have also used this cam at one time or another ins their cars. I had one in my Valiant on the street, for about 700 miles. That's how long it took it to destroy the oil pump drive gear. I really liked the power. The car ran low 14's@95 mph with it. I have one w/lifters NIB if anyone wants to make a deal. |

Did you mean you have to cut pockets in the top of the pistons for clearance? Or is there really someway to cut pockets in the valves for clearance?

I would say he meant to say he cut valve pockets in the pistons. His other post confirms this with the pics of the short block with pistons Jess |

Sorry I wrote that when I should have been sleeping. I also tend to think faster than I can smash 26 Letters/10 numbers in any correct order. I CUT VALVE POCKETS IN PISTONS. That should clear it up. Greg |
