Mine needs to be replaced and I was wondering if there are any "gottchas" involved or is it pretty straight forward? Any assistance is always appreciated.

I started on mine today. Due to my great mechanical skills, patience and shear genius, I managed to NOT break any of the manifold studs or lose any of the triangle washers. I did however break two of the intake/exhaust rods that hold them together. I also sheared off the nuts from the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe. I now have an unusable vehicle, and I feel great.
Any suggestions on cleaning the aluminum intake? I was originally going to sand blast it. But I'm not sure. I don't want it too smooth as I would like to paint it before I reassemble.
