Hey guys, can I run a 100 NOS shot on a motor with stock material? 150? I'm looking at cast pistons for the rebuild  .......are 2.2 slugs forged??I still haven't found a cam with over .510 lift....(Summit) I'm lookin for more power, and tring to do my homework early. Thanks for any help. |

If you want to run a 100hp shot or more I'd use a progressive controller like the Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind. At 2000 RPM that 100hp shot makes twice as much torque as at 4000 RPM. To make twice as much torque the cylinder pressure is much, much higher and it's the cylinder pressure that breaks parts. With the progressive controller you can bring a little nitrous in sooner and ramp it up with RPM. I expect Slantzilla has some words for you on nitrous use.  2.2 pistons are cast or hypereutectic cast. Venolia will make you nice pistons however you want with pins and everything for $500. Why not custom order the cam you really want instead of just getting close? Don't forget good head work and pay close attention to the entire exhaust system on a nitrous motor. |

Im with Joshie225 on this. Talk To Slantzilla aka Bagel Bomber. Guys you just caint throw a bottle on an engine or a turbo or a supercharger and have positive results. Do your homework about nitirous oxide and how it works. Then you will have a better understanding of what direction you can go. Thanks Ron Parker  It Aint Over Until I Win |

can the N.O.S hidden system be used on a stock motor? it only goes to about 40 horse i think |

I got a custom grind from Elgin Cams in Redwood City Ca. and he will take all of your specs and custom grind a cam for about the same price as an off the shelf cam. I haven't installed it yet but I will let everyone know how I like it. He has a web page with extensive information. www.elgincams.com |

The individual port hidden systems can support 100s of horsepower. The NOS Top Shot that's meant to hide inside an air cleaner over a 4bbl car will do up to 150hp if memory serves, but that might be limited by the solenoids the system ships with. The NOS Sneaky Pete system is a nitrous only system that is not meant for big power gains. You have to add the extra fuel through carb jetting so it's not a good street system.

Stock motor can easily handle 150 shot IF you keep your tune-up right. Nitrous is not a "PLUG AND PLAY"!  Trust me, I have blown enough stuff up by running a tune-up that is too fuel rich. Too much fuel will kill a motor just as easily as too much nitrous. Fuel will break and then melt a piston, nitrous will just melt it. Hyperteutectic 2.2 pistons are very safe at a 125 shot, at 150 and up you are dancing with the devil. A 40 horse shot is just enough to tease you, I would not waste my time. Take a ride in a juice car once and you will know what I mean. Kinda like having a hot blonde with big gazongas unbutton her shirt for you. Really cool, but ya just gotta have more.

they might be better now, but my experience with jacobs stuff was very bad.never even came close to matching thier claims, and VERY expensive. |

Lol, that's good... It just earned the #1 position on my "favorite automotive quotes of all time" list, displacing "My lug nuts have more torque than your Honda." (I think I stole that from a member of this board as well.)

Thanks for all the replies! I appreciate it. (Anna looks good, too)  Slantzilla, can a plain rebuild piston (Enginetech, Summit..ect.) hold a 100 horse shot and be reliable?? Thanks |

Sure, as long as you keep your tune-up right. With juice, when they go bad, they go bad big time.
