Howdy, all.

I can't remember if my 1972 through 1974 factory service manuals are just buried or if they don't exist (might be some of the years I don't have here in Toronto).

Need some information on the evaporative emission control system (charcoal cannister, etc). This info will be in sections 14 (fuel system) and 25 (emission control) of the FSM.

Can someone please post either a description or a scan of the hose routing between the carburetor and the charcoal cannister? Specifically, I'm trying to determine whether any of these applications had a cannister purge valve (no such valve at least as far back as '75) and exactly how the hoses connected to the cannister's "purge" port (and purge valve, if applicable) are routed in the following applications:

-1972 and '73 passenger car 198 and 225 engine, with Holley 1920 carburetor

-1974 passenger car 198 and 225 engine, with Holley 1945 carburetor

-1972 and '73 Dodge truck 225 engine, with Carter BBS carburetor

Even partial information will be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hi Dan. My '72 Satellite had a canaster with 4 connections. One for the fuel tank vent, one for the carb bowl vent. One line went to a T fitting in the vacuum advance, and one more went to a T in the PCV line. This was the purge line (the nipple was connected to the cap on top of the cannaster, it had a spring with a diaphram underneath). Most later applications (with the 1945) has the purge line going to a fitting on the carburetor, with only connections for the tank vent and carburetor bowl vent (if memory serves).

Dan,
I have 72 and 73 FSMs at home, I will scan the requested pages, pdf them and post them tomorrow.
