Guys, is there any way that removing the vinyl top from a '69 Dart can cause a rainwater leak? The previous owner pulled it off and I'm getting a leak that looks like it's coming in somewhere in the vent window area and I'm curious how water even reaches that area since it's under the drip rail. I inspected the rail and it looks like there's some kind of factory goo in that channel. Is that part of the vinyl top installation? If that goo becomes compromised does it let water get through the rail somehow?

I do not think that simply removing the top would cause such a leak unless there is a hole under that factory goop. I would scrape down the goop and see what you find. Otherwise, check the condition of the weatherstrip. I have always had problems with the weatherstrip on the quarter windows on my Chryslers.
