| Post subject: | Upgrade your glove box |
While I was pulling a disc brake setup off a '75 Scamp a few months ago, I noticed that the glove box liner was plastic. So I removed what was left of the cardboard liner out of my '68 Signet and took it back to the JY. All 6 screw holes appeared to match, so it pulled it. The JY owner let me have it for free. Good news is, it fits! I think the plastic liner was used on '74-'76 A bodys and should retro fit back to '67. It's a cheap upgrade for the flimsy and fragile cardbord liner used up thru '73. If anyone does this upgrade, make sure you get the nut clips that are on the dash's frame. The cardboard liner has the nut clips stapled to the cardboard where as the plastic liner has the clips on the dash frame. There is a slight downside to using the plastic liner, the rounded edges and thicker wall reduces the usable storage volume. |

Thanks for that info. I too have a '68 and would like to get rid of the cardboard for something that will not absorb water from anything that the kids might throw in there! Russ |

| Post subject: | Two colors! |
One thing to note is they come in two colors too! I notice most in the 1974+ years are black with the lens in the side for glovebox lighting... In the '76's they came "clearish" and the light sits on the otherside of the liner for light. Cheers! -D.Idiot |

Mine is the the black model. The hole for the light is in the same location as the cardboard liner. |

I replaced my 73 Swinger cardboard with a 75 Scamp plastic. The two bottom screw holes didn't line up, so I broke off those two tabs and drilled a couple small holes. Works just fine. I neglected to grab the screw inserts, so I used speaker type screw backing (the folded metal clips), and they worked great. |
