i have a '61 dodge d100, 225, and a 1 bbl carter arb. in rebuilding it, i inadvertantly lost the step up rod (piece of wire) that goes in the main metering jet. does anyone have one or know where i can get on. doesn't really complete the rebuild without it - ha ha.

Give us some specifics on your Carb - Model, Any other Numbers, stampings.

Also post a Part wanted in the Parts wanted section.

I honestly do not know of who has spare 1BBl step up rods.

By the sound of it, you are probably dealing with a Carter BBS? No?

If you cant get the part, You might have to spring for a new carb.

With the early BBS's you may be able to make one as they are in the jet or not in the jet (you don't have to worry about a taper or stepping)


Just need the right size wire diameter (which would be in the factory manual)

Not correct. All the BBS step-up rods are tapered, right back to the first slant-6 BBS in 1960. I have pulled straight-wire step-up rods out of "remanufactured" carburetors, but they were neither workable nor original/correct.

Yes and No........

The rod on the early BBS's may be tapered, but the tapered section at the bottom is either in the jet or out of the jet (not counting the part of the jet the keeps the rod aligned at the top of the jet).

A straight rod of the correct diameter will work on the early BBS's
