Post subject:  windshield wiper pivot posts on Duster

Can anyone tell me how you get the wiper post pivots out of a Duster?
I got the Schumacher repair kit. Got the wiper arms off; already have the heater box and stuff al lout from under the dash (I'm putting a new heater core in too).
I got the connector arm loose from the post, but can find no way to take it loose. 3 blind studs going up thru the firewall, but no access from the outside.
And on the driver's side' it took me almost 10 minutes just to find it.
Can't find nuts on that side either.
The CD factory manual I have says to take the nuts off.
What am I missing here?
Thanks for your help.

The heads of the 3 studs are most likely the wiper motor mountings.
Look up higher, along the bottom of the windshield socket, the wiper pivots are pot metal "stocks" mounted on studs, with 2 nuts each, holding them in place.

Ditto what Doc said. There is nothing under a Duster's dash that remotely resembles a wiper pivot. If you see something under there with two hex nuts close to each other (a few inches apart), and its in the vicinity of where you expect the pivot to be, then it is the wiper pivot.

If nothing else, get a helper to tap on the outside end of the pivot shaft so you can home in on it underneath the dash. Good for you for getting the seal kit from Schumacher. Once you get the pivots removed, be sure to do like they suggest and install the grease zerts. Also, don't give up on slipping the new seals over the shaft. They are a bear to do, but a little liquid dish soap helps a great deal.

Good luck,
Jerry
