| Post subject: | Aspen Wiper Linkage Help Needed |
1980 Dodge Aspen 6 cyl without A/C. The wiper arm linkage clip on the drivers side broke off causing the passenger side wiper to no longer work. The drivers side still works. Does anyone know how to reach in there to replace this clip? If I need to remove the linkage to fix it out of the car please tell me how to do this. Any help you can offer is appreciated. |

On the F body Aspen this is quite an easy Fix. Just remove the Plastic Grille From the Cowl Under the Hood. (hood Up) The Plastic Bushing That Has Broke causing your Problem is Readily Available in the HELP! Parts Section of the Local Parts Chain. Any AutoZone Advance, Chucker Kragen Oriley's and many others should have this part. It is also Possible to get these crom chrysler (at least it was.) After you locate Where the broken Bushing is Just pop out the old broken dired plastic and pop the new one in. ( if you do not want this to happen again any time soon, Just Buy 3 of those little bushings and Replace all of them. If you wish you can also Just remove the whole linkage and Service it outside of the car. 1. Take off the Wiper arms 2. loosen the bolt that connects it to the wiper motor. 3 remove the 2 larger bolts under each Wiper arm. the whole assembly will remove and it's tons easier to work on. If that seems too much, I have 2 complete Assembly's With good bushings That I plan to put on eBay somtime. PM me if intrested. Greg |

To extend their service life even more, fill the bushings' "cups" with white lithium grease, before snapping the linkage together. Jerry |

I will remove the whole assembly, since I can not reach under the cowl to get to the plastic bushing that broke off. Last Question, since I am going to remove the whole linkage what is the easiest way to remove the wiper arms? Greg, Thank you for your help much appreciated Happy Holidays |

I don't know about Aspens, but my son's Dart Sport has a spring clip, underneath the wiper arm that holds it onto the splined tip of the wiper pivot. Release the clip and pull the arm straight up off the pivot. You might make reference marks on the arm and the pivot, so you can put them back on in the same location. Otherwise, you might have to try a couple times to get them back on correctly. Jerry |

Well If you car has the factory Correct Wiper Arms - Just Lit them Up Like you are Drying under the blades. There is a Little Rechet Piece that Hold the Sprig loaded Arms up - Once you get the Arms up Jut wiggle and Pull - They shoudl come right off.. Greg |
