Hi all. I'm a new member with a 1985 Dodge truck with a bad engine. I found a good used short block from an older car. A forged crank engine with the same size flange for the flywheel. I would like to put the hyd cam from the 85 into the old engine. What do I need to change? Thanks. |

Your mind. Sorry, couldn't resist. There is no advantage to using the juice cam in an older block. |

Slantzilla's right. The solid-lifter cam is better (performance, driveability, MPG, valvetrain dependability), and valve cover removal in a great big truck engine bay is easy...just climb under the hood to adjust the valves! Just swap the replacement engine complete; you'll wind up happier overall. |

OK, You have talked me into the solid lifter cam. Now does anyone need a new set of hyd lifters? |
