| Post subject: | another old A903 question |
Just joined the org about 3 minutes ago, but a longtime reader. Now I feel legit. I am attempting a four-speed A833 into a 67 Barracuda /6 in order to make an engine swap more interesting. I have the small 8 bellhousing that came with the trans, the A903 b.h., and a /6 four-speed b.h. with a 5.125 IBR circle. Naturally, the 833 I have has the smaller bearing/ flange IBR combo. Any adaptors available?javascript:emoticon(':|') |

Thanks DionR. It looks like Brewers has a retainer adapter ring to match the 4.354" bearing retainer to the 4.805" bellhousing opening, in case anyone needs one of them. The opening in this one is 5.125 in what I think is a four-speed O.D. bellhousing, An adapter ring seems like the economical way to go. |

Your right, my mistake. I was thinking there were only two sizes, guess there are three. My apologies. Perhaps "roll your own"? Here's an article that talks about just what you are asking. Maybe that will help more than my earlier suggestion. |

You probably could get a machine shop to make you a spacer. It may be possible the change the front case with a new case from Passion Performance that had a retainer of this size. I am not sure they have one that will take a retainer this size because there site seems to be down at the moment. As soon as the site is up I will look into it. Jess |

Passon makes a 5.125" OD adapter ring for $39. I've not seen it in their online catalog, so it must be one of those miscellaneous parts they stock. Jamie at Passon offered one to me via email, so that's how I came to find out. What I don't know is if they have one for both the 4.35 and 4.80 bearing retainers, or if you would have to buy a 4.80 bearing retainer to go along with the adapter ring to make this work. I gave you a faulty answer previously, so thought I would try and make up for it. For all I know, it might be too late any ways. |
