I know that it isn't the best brand around, but I have never had problems with Standard brand products. That is until today. I got my engine running well enough that I could make a few adjustments to it. When I went to adjust the distributor I noticed that the cap was wobbling back and forth. I am guessing that the rotor was made a bit crooked. Anybody have this happen with caps and rotors? Staring at it sure made me dizzy!

Standard has for years been one of the best brands around. Are you sure the rotor was all the way seated on the distributor shaft? You really have to push harder than you had to pull to get the old rotor off, 'cause the Standard ones are made with the index tab just slightly wider than the slot, so the rotor'll be a secure fit on the shaft. Also, the caps are made to tight spec, so you have to make sure the cap is all the way seated on the distributor body, all around its circumference. This sounds like basic stuff, and it is, but it's also really easy to screw it up, especially if you are working with the distributor still in the engine.
