Different trim and option levels.

Here's some info: Year by Year

My Valiant is a '64 V200, not a Signet.

If I am not mistaken, in 64 the 100 was the "cheap" sedan. The 200 had more trim and some upscale options. The 200 was avalable as a 2 door or a 4 door sdn. I don't know if the 100 was available as a 4 door. The Signet was the "top of the line", and only a hardtop or convert.

I have a Canadian Custom 100.....which was top of the line here. Hardtop and convertible only.

Actually, the '65 Canadian Valiant lineup was really complicated:

V100: Short wheelbase, low trim level. Basically the same as US Plymouth Valiant V100, with some trim and mechanical differences. 2- and 4-door sedans, 4-door wagons.106" wheelbase.

V200: Long wheelbase, low trim level. Basically the same as US Dodge Dart 170, with some trim and mechanical differences. 2- and 4-door sedans, 2-door hardtops & possibly convertibles (not quite sure on this), 4-door wagons. 111" wheelbase except wagons, which -- as with all '63-'66 A-body wagons -- were on the 106" wheelbase.

Custom 100: Short wheelbase, high trim level. Basically the same as US Plymouth Valiant V200, with some trim and mechanical differences. 2- and 4-door sedans, 4-door wagons.106" wheelbase.

Custom 200: Long wheelbase, high trim level. Basically the same as US Dodge Dart 270, with some trim and mechanical differences. 2- and 4-door sedans, 2-door hardtops & convertibles, 4-door wagons. 111" wheelbase except wagons.

Signet 200: Long wheelbase, premium trim level. Basically the same as US Dodge Dart GT, with some trim and mechanical differences. 2-door hardtops and convertibles only, 111" wheelbase.

The US Valiant and Dart lineup from '63-'66 was pretty simple:

Valiant V100: 106" wheelbase, low trim level. 2- and 4-door sedans, 4-door wagons.

Dart 170: 111" wheelbase, low trim level. 2- and 4-door sedans, 4-door wagons (wagons on 106" WB)

Valiant V200: 106" wheelbase, high trim level. 2- and 4-door sedans, 2-door hardtops & convertibles, 4-door wagons.

Dart 270: 111" wheelbase, high trim level. 2- and 4-door sedans, 2-door hardtops & convertibles, 4-door wagons (wagons on 106" WB)

Valiant Signet 200: 106" wheelbase, premium trim level. 2-door hardtops and convertibles only.

Dart GT: 111" wheelbase, premium trim level. 2-door hardtops and convertibles only.

Dan, are you sure? I have never seen a Valiant 200 in a hardtop or convert. The only hardtops and converts, I have seen were Signets. Just because I haven't seen one doesn't mean there are none, just asking.

Interesting: The '65 FPC enumerates V100 and V200 2- and 4-door sedans and 4-door wagons, V200 and Signet convertibles, Signet hardtops, but no V200 hardtops! Same in '64 and '66.

I personally saw a '64 V200 Valiant convertible last month. No question, it was not a Signet. Split bench seats, 200 trim, no signet badges or trim, single speed wipers (no power washer), a beauty but 200 all the way.
I have a '64 V200 Signet Hardtop.

Actually, that'll be a '64 Signet 200 hardtop, not a V200 Signet.

That beats my collection. Most of mine need some work of some kind or another. All are /6, 170's and 225's, all auto. The stable:

'64 Signet 200 Hardtop
'64 V200 4 door factory AC, PS
'64 V100 4 door junk parts car
'65 Valiant V200 2 dr. post PS
'65 Valiant V200 4 dr.

No convertible, yet...

Here's my list:

64 Signet Convertible (rusty, parts car, 225/push button auto) For Sale

64 V100(?) 2 door post 225/3 on the tree - sold & sent to Australia (now a really nice race car)

64 Barracuda - Was a 273/manual, now has a Hi po 360/4 speed/8 3/4, Predator carb sticking through the hood :D For Sale

65 Barracuda - stock 360/auto ( originally a 273/auto car) For Sale

65 V100 2 door post - stock 318/auto (originally a 273/3 on the tree? car) For Sale

I really like the body lines of the '64 and '65 Valiants and Barracudas. I'm not as fond of the '63 and '66 though.
