Hi
I have been watching a set of ceramic coated headers for a slant six on ebay and the bidding has got pretty high in my oppinion. It is at $530 and still climbing. Am I out of the loop on the value of these. I figured 400 tops. Just curious.
Thanks Tim

Base price on new uncoated ones is around $400.00 Coating usually adds $175 or so.

The ceramic coating adds to the value of the headers, but in my opinion nearly all headers are junk and worth nowhere near $500....Well maybe if they were gold plated :D

The trouble with any used headers is that you don't have any assurance that they will fit your chassis. (the same can be said about new headers but with those you have some return options)

Seems like sellers of used header either don't know what the headers came off of or they don't want to tell you. ("I bought them used and they don't fit my car so I am reselling them..." )

Either way, coated used headers are a bigger problem seeing that they look like crap once you start cutting and welding on them to make them fit right.

If those are the same hookers I saw they are for a truck and the new price at summit is around $750.00, which is kind of shocking. It seems at least a couple of hundred more than they would have been a year ago. But then MPP torsion bars jumped from $149.00 to $299.00 a few months ago too. It's out of hand. Really nice 304 stainless headers for my Turbo Buick were about $900.00 back in 2000 and they have not really gone up much since then. There is more to them as far as crossover and flanges too and it is not a huge market either. Just for fun maybe I should contact the company about some slant headers. I have owned ceramic coated headers before and while they are much better than any paint, they still can get ugly and rust where they get hot or sandblasted along the bottom of the car. Too many things are starting to cost more than they are really worth.

try clifford performance. thats way high for headers. clifford has them for just over 300 bucks. of course they are nothing special look wise, not cermaic coated or anything like that, but they are the best headers you can get for the slant six. and are a hell of alot cheaper then what the hookers go for. now i am all holley, dont get me wrong, but the cliffords are just as good, if not better *thanks to our friend MR Dutra* and cost way less. for an extra 75 to 100 bucks you can get them coated though
