Post subject:  need help with a engine idea

I am trying to get some info on the aussie straight 6 hemis to see if the would work on a 225 slant 6... I would like to build a Hemi slant 6, but I cant find much info on either engine head to check the interchange... The engine is coming out of a 73 swinger, and I plan to autocross the car sometime in the next 2-3 years... any help would be greatly appreciated

The Hemi six is a completly different design, nothing interchanges with the Slant Six.

However, there are ways of getting an engine from Australia to here....

Had this idea myself once and even went so far as to buy a 245 head off ebay australia. The only part that would work with a slant was the intake/exhaust studs and nuts. The Aussie Hemi is a completely different engine like Doc says. Little things like 7 main bearings, 3.91 bore size, shorter stroke, crank flange, damper, etc. If you really want one check out hemiperformance.com . They will build you one and if you catch them in a really good mood, they may even ship it to you. It's up to you to get it through Customs and sneak it past the EPA though. Be prepared to spend big bucks and wait a long time, but it can be done. Hemiperformance also has some neat parts for the slant like new harmonic balancers and timing sets. All prices are in Australian dollars which is roughly 75 cents US. Hope this helps.

No such sneaking required. Vehicles over 20 years old, and components therefor, are not subject to EPA restrictions on importation.
