Post subject:  Slant Six Four Barrel

Hi I am new to this forum. I currently have a Slant 6 230 and I need to know if I could find a 4 barrel carburetor for it? I have rebuilt this engine but I am tired of the one barrel. This engine is in great shape. I would like to pull that 727 automatic transmission out someday and rebuild. Make the rear pinion gears bigger etc. If I can't find a four barrel intake manifold or a four barrel carburetor thats fine.

as bad as it sounds if new is the way j.c. whittney. If not someones going to say "use a carter bbd". If thats what happens I might have a super six set up minus the linkage.

Except the 230 is not a slant, it's the next older six and it's a flathead.
Be careful when you order parts - the slant is 170, 198 or 225.

Just finding and slapping a 4bbl on your engine is not going to make you happy, whether you have a 230 flathead six or a 225 slant-6. You really need to figure out what exactly you want to achieve, in complete detail, before you buy any parts, otherwise you'll wind up wasting money and time and being disappointed with the results.

This is a slant 6 230. It has been bored. thats why its a 230 instead of a 225. The slant 6 can be bored up to a 238. I won't bore it that much though. Anyways I went to Holley.com and found the 4 barrel carburetor for it. Although I didn't find the 4 barrel intake manifold.

Offy intakes can be found here, or J. C. Whitney, or PAW, or probably Summit. On a street motor I would stay away from a Clifford.
