I notice in my Felpro engine gasket kit includes something called a 'retainer bolt spacer sleeve'. I'm guessing they must have had some reason for including it, but I'm at a loss. BTW I'm working on a 75 or 76 engine (/6 of course).

I noticed the same thing recently, my kit had a little sheet on rear main seal installation that mentioned the retainers but they weren't in my kit.

Thanks 65 Deuce,
That reinforces my suspicion that these (inch long plastic tubes) probably go in the bolt holes in the rear main retainer. I guess I left the old ones in place when I changed the rear main seal. Hope that works out. I just buttoned up the oil pan and timing cover ahead of the noreaster. Might delay the swap if we get any accumulation.

I have a new felpro set I am saving for a rebuild. I noticed those things too and had the same response. Good point to be aware of. I'll check the factory manual when I get a chance and see if they show them in there as well.
