Post subject:  what size, more torque

I have a "63" D200 short box step side with a slant 6, 727 auto, dana 60 and am not sure what the engin size is. It started life as a US forestry fire fighting truck, so I assume its a 225? Will the casting number on the block , below the intake tell me anything? It only shows 77000. I havent decided if Im going to keep it or sell it. If I keep it I would like to up grade the motor to get alot more torque out of it because Im thinking it has some pretty low gears in it. I would be useing it to tow a car trailer as I buy old cars [mopar] to junk for parts or restore. I am allso thinking of customizing this truck, buts thats down the road for now. Help! kelly

Sounds like a good candidate for a poly 318, actually. Check out www.sweptline.org for a treasure trove of info on your truck, and prospective buyers if you want to sell it.

welcome to the forum. One of the best upgrades for your dollars worth is supersixing it (if its not already). That is installing a two barrel intake and carb. Along with that would be to upgrade to a bigger exhaust to get the most of the supersix. There are alot of other mods to be done (some are not even that expensive) such as recurving the distributor, other members will give you more advice. There is alot of info on this forum.
